I think there was a post of using several discounts before getting a target or disney discount card at target. Know about the 5% Target - but some people say they lower it by 20%.

anyone heard know what I am talking about?

There is a forum on this. Try finding in the search otherwise maybe someone will post name and you can find.

Currently, (through 4/30) I can use my visa which gives 2% back on club purchases and then buy $100 Disney gift cards at BJs for $94.99. so 94.99 less 2% cash back = $93.09.

sorry, can't help on target discounts but hope this one tip does help

You used to be able to get discount Target GCs then use them to buy Disney GCs online and stack it with the Red Card Discount (5%). So you ended up getting 10% off. This is no longer technically possible AFAIK. You can get Disney GCs for 5% every day at Sams Club, BJs.com (no membership needed) and Target/Target.com (with Red Card). With various grocery store and credit card offers you can get 10% off, e.g. right now Meijer has 10% back on up to $500 in any GC. Discover 5% CashBack covered Sams Club in December (for total 10%) and Warehouse Clubs in January (for total 10% off at Sam's Club or BJs.com). Kroger offers 4X fuel points occasionally which is $1 off a gallon of gas for $250 in GCs (up to 35 gallons) so up to 14% back.

ETA: you can also deposit 10% off Disney GCs into a Disney Vacation Account then get 2% redemption rebate on eligible purchases (hotels, cruises, DDP, etc.), so 12% total. I do this with DCL along with 8% Costco rebate and 10% on board booking discount, so 30% total discounts on every cruise :tu:. Saving on Disney is a lot of "work" but worth it IME.

thank you both - sounds like I should have done this before. Oh well 10% is better than nothing - have a Discover - there is no Sams Club near me - BJ's not sure - will look.

have target so can get 5% off. really would like more.

You can order at bjs.com and don't have to be a member. Free shipping too!

every bit, even if just 2%, adds up. :)

Hi Russ! Can you book with a travel agent and then use the Vacation Account to pay? IE Cruise.

And YES, it can be a lot of work to day but the savings can add up and helps to go more often :tu:
Keep trying to find more and more ways to save

Yes. It was a little tricky to use the DVA for the down payment booked through Costco Travel. I called the DCL # for Travel Agents (which is the # you use to make your payment with DVA), and made a payment with my DVA equal to the down payment, then called Costco and asked them to refund the original down payment (since they can verify all payments on the reservation to see you made a second payment). I probably could have done it all up front, but it's a little tricky since you have to call DCL directly to pay with DVA. For subsequent trips, it's not a problem, since if you book on board you can still use a travel agent (if you booked your original trip with the same travel agent), and pay directly for the down payment on board with DVA, then call the travel agent when you get home to have them load the reservation # into their system (e.g. so you still get the 8% Costco Rebate in Costco's case). Then you just call the DCL # for travel agents to pay the balance with DVA - so Costco is never involved (other than calling them to tell them you made a reservation so you can get your Costco Rebate).

Thanks Russ! What do you think of the following math and ideas country wide to save more?
This is based on Cruise cash purchase

    $7000 in gift cards deposited to Vacation Account @ $94.99 per $100 = $6649.30. Savings: $350.70

2% credit card cash back on purchases of gift cards at $6649.30 x 2% = $132.97 to be credited to credit card statement

$20 bonus gift card per $1000 spent from Vacation Account= $140 received as gift card to use on Cruise

    Savings: $350.70, $132.97, $140.00 Total savings: $623.67

If Cancel: Funds are returned to original form of payment which would be Vacation Account and could result in delays of getting actual cash if emergency.
