Polynesian “Close to Sold Out”

In August, DVCinfo exclusively reported that two Use Years at Polynesian were close to selling out of inventory:

Two Use Years Selling Out Imminently

Prior to this latest Declaration, only one previously declared unit had no deeds recorded against it, bringing the total unsold units to 6 with this Declaration.  Since each unit only corresponds to one Use Year, and there are 8 Use Years, this means 2 Use Years will become unavailable once the units currently being sold are exhausted, which could happen imminently.  There is no way to tell which Use Years will become unavailable, since the Use Year assigned to the remaining 6 units will not be known until deeds start being recorded against them.

We can now confirm DVC Guides are telling people that June and August Use Years are sold out and that “Polynesian in general is getting close to sold out”.  September Use Year is also very close to selling out, although one unassigned Residential Unit remains which could be assigned to September to keep it from selling out.  Although we previously reported that Polynesian would be completely sold out by December at the then current rate, sales of Polynesian have slowed considerably, so some inventory will continue to be available into next year as a result.  DVC has stopped promoting Polynesian incentives, although they are still available through January.

Special thanks to Wil (DVCinfo Community Member @wdrl2) for info on remaining Use Years.

Winter 2017 Direct DVC Incentives

Disney Vacation Club has released new direct purchase offers for new and existing members, valid through January 30, 2018.  These Incentives consist of a Developer Credit + $500 Gift Card or Developer Credit only.  The $500 Gift Card offer is only available with 20% down payment.  The Developer Credit only incentive is available with 10% down payment.  The combined incentive amount of both offers is the same.  Incentive point thresholds were reduced slightly from previous incentives, resulting in higher discounts at lower levels.  The minimum purchase for Polynesian Villas and Bungalows (without incentives) also increased to 50 points for existing members (same as Aulani and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins).  The base price per point before incentives remains unchanged at $176/point for Aulani, Copper Creek Villas, and Polynesian Villas.

4-Diamond Disneyland Hotel Confirmed & DVC Rumor

In June, 2016 Disney filed plans for a new four-diamond hotel at Disneyland Resort with the City of Anaheim, California.  The City of Anaheim Visitor and Convention Bureau announced that the plans were approved in May, 2017.  Today, Disney confirmed construction is scheduled to start in summer 2018, opening in 2021, and unveiled new details and concept art.

Details Confirmed

Disney has confirmed plans include a 700-room luxury hotel, located in the west end of the Downtown Disney District.  Plans include two pools, alfresco rooftop dining with views of the park and fireworks, and a dedicated monorail platform inside the hotel for direct transport into Disneyland park.  The new hotel will consist of 4 separate buildings located where Rainforest Cafe, ESPN Zone, AMC Theater, and Earl of Sandwich are currently located:

Tax Incentives/Benefits

The planned resort would take advantage of the City of Anaheim Hotel Incentive Program, which was approved on June 16, 2015 and provides significant incentives to developers of Four Diamond Hotels within the City of Anaheim, in exchange for the estimated $25 million in new tax revenue (over 5 years), temporary construction jobs, and permanent jobs generated by the resort.

DVC Rumor

According to one rumor, the plans now include the addition of a 125-room Disney Vacation Club wing, which would be the second Disney Vacation Club resort at Disneyland if these unconfirmed rumors are true.  According to this rumor, the DVC building would be a 5th building located between the new hotel and Paradise Pier hotel (shown in red below):
